If you are pregnant and answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, then Healthy Beginnings might be for you!

What is the Healthy Beginnings Prenatal Nutrition Program?

The Healthy Beginnings Prenatal Nutrition Program is a free, supportive group program that is offered year round. It is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, hosted locally by Keystone Child, Youth & Family Services and run by Registered Nurses.

Who is Healthy Beginnings  for?

Healthy Beginnings is for first-time and experienced mothers who are pregnant and looking for extra support to deal with day-to-day stresses and challenges.  Our group gives you a chance to learn and share information, meet other parents, develop friendships, and connect to community resources and services.

What can you expect from participating regularly in Healthy Beginnings?

  • Support and information during groups from Registered Nurses and occasional Guest Speakers
  • A chance to try new foods and recipes
  • Newsletters, access to a private Facebook Page to keep in touch and up-to-date between groups, and chances to win monthly draws (based on attendance at groups)
  • Learn about:
    • how to have a healthy pregnancy
    • what you can do to support labour, birth, and recovery
    • breastfeeding
    • baby health and development
    • becoming a new parent
    • healthy nutrition for babies and families
    • self care and mental health

Receive gift certificates for free:

  • Prenatal vitamins while you are pregnant
  • Vitamin D supplement for breastfeeding babies
  • Groceries to help you eat healthy throughout your pregnancy and beyond.

When is Healthy Beginnings offered?

In-person groups are on hold. Currently, Healthy Beginnings is offered virtually on Zoom.

Join us for group discussions, support, information, and “cooking together while apart” (we supply the groceries for cooking days) all from the comfort of your own home!

Thursday mornings, twice a month, from 11 a.m. to about 12 noon.
You will have access to the Zoom invitation after registering for the group with one of the Healthy Beginnings Nurses.

When can I join Healthy Beginnings?

As soon as you know you are pregnant!  We encourage you to join early in your pregnancy and attend regularly!
