Our History

We are a voluntary, non-profit prevention and counselling agency, which has been providing free help to children, youth and families in Bruce and Grey Counties since 1974. Our programs and services reflect a desire to help “Build Futures Together” with an emphasis on listening, partnerships, and creativity. Our vision is to provide “responsive, compassionate services for children, youth and families to build better and more hopeful futures.”

We became incorporated as a separate children’s mental health organization in 1982. Our crisis assessment stabilization Residential Program was established in 1989 in downtown Owen Sound. Prevention services began with Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) in 1994 and expanded to include healthy beginning and prenatal nutrition programs in 1997.

Throughout the years, we have continued to expand and grow through partnerships with community services in Grey and Bruce as we strive toward offering a full comprehensive system of care for families, children and youth.

Keystone Child Youth and Family Services was designated a LEAD Agency for children and youth mental health in 2014, joining the provincial “Moving On Mental Health” initiative.
